VolunteerAlly

Overview

VolunteerAlly is a minimum viable product (MVP) designed to address the needs of a local non-profit organization that outgrew its WordPress site. This web application offers a more customized solution to facilitate daily operations and manage volunteer opportunities effectively.

Contributions

Role: All-Rounder Developer

Responsibilities:

• UI/UX Design: Contributed to both the user interface and user experience design, including layout and presentation of various collections and pages.
• Page Design: Designed the layout for each opportunity’s information page.
• Feature Implementation: Implemented key features such as the search bar and direct messaging functionality.

The Experience

While the final product is satisfactory, there were some bugs and incomplete features due to time constraints and prioritization. This project provided valuable experience in balancing team dynamics and addressing real-world software development challenges. Moving forward, leveraging each team member’s strengths and learning from these experiences will be crucial for future projects. As the saying goes, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.”
